Batterer’s Intervention

The Batterer's Intervention Program (BIP) at Center for Survivors is designed to help men create better relationships, be respectful of their partners and families, and move toward healthier behaviors. Since 2010, we have helped hundreds of men learn how to be accountable for their behavior by teaching them non-violent relationship interaction skills in order to reduce violence in their relationships.

BIP is a 36-week program that utilizes the Duluth Model/Emerge. In most cases, men who batter are court-ordered to take the course, however, they can voluntarily enroll pending a brief evaluation. Topics covered through this program include:

  • Non-violent relationship skills, including respect, trust, and support

  • Negotiation and fairness skills

  • The use of power and control

  • Intentional use of intimidation, minimizing, denying, and blaming tactics

These groups are offered in both English and Spanish. For more information, contact Center for Survivors at (402) 564-2155.
